Ordered a day boat fish box for two. Good value and free delivery. Amazing variety and quality. Bought it to expand my cookery skills and to try something new. Baked the pollack tonight which was delicious. Can't wait to try some more of the box
Nice guys but... The really don't know or don't care that they're selling fillets of fish that should be scaled I'm only writing this because this isn't the first time I've bought fish from them and have had to scale it myself. I think that they and their customers should be aware that to do a proper job they should scale the fish while whole before filleting it. It's damaging for the flesh to do it on such a small fillet of fish.. And contrary to what they tried to tell me, cod isn't a fish that "has hardly any scales on it". Mackerel is fine, cod isn't. I've been prepping fish for nearly 20 years, trust me. Honestly, it's understandable for this to happen in a supermarket but not in a specialised fishmongers. Come on guys, have some pride in your work....
I get fortnightly deliveries from Dan and co. Always great value, and wonderful to get a different selection of fish each time, fitted to my requests of type and sustainability. In person, the shop is well-stocked, good value and friendly. Busy Saturday mornings are testament to its popularity.
I'm a fish noob, only know salmon and "white fish". So, when I went there to see lots of selection, I was confused. However, the store staff was very helpful. They asked what kind of dish I'm going to make, which level of firmness etc. Eventually I got some ling fish fillet. Baked it and my husband likes it even though he's not normally very into fish. Oh, they even gave me some prawns (which taste sweet with minimal seasoning, meaning they are fresh) and mussels extra!
Very helpful guys. Fish fresh as always. Good value for money
