My partner bought me some cockles when we popped in this morning as I used to love eating them when I was little...sad to see all of them are absolutely full to the brim with sand and grit so obviously hadn't been purged at all. Pretty sure it'll be the providers responsibility but really disappointed.
First time going there and must admit we found what we were looking for, the seafood was nicely fresh and the prices were even better. The low star rating is about the attitude of the vendors. Somewhat rude to begin with, I got announced the price of the octopi after weighing them on the scale, as if suspicious I will not pay, and despite paying for everything whilst the vendor was gutting the octopi, before handing us the seafood, the vendor asked their colleague in not such a subtle way whether we had paid. Good fish - not great staff service or manners.
Best place in Bristol to get your fresh fish, great selection, also the staff and owner are really helpful. Highly recommended 👌 all the best rods minibuses

Nice guys but... The really don't know or don't care that they're selling fillets of fish that should be scaled I'm only writing this because this isn't the first time I've bought fish from them and have had to scale it myself. I think that they and their customers should be aware that to do a proper job they should scale the fish while whole before filleting it. It's damaging for the flesh to do it on such a small fillet of fish.. And contrary to what they tried to tell me, cod isn't a fish that "has hardly any scales on it". Mackerel is fine, cod isn't. I've been prepping fish for nearly 20 years, trust me. Honestly, it's understandable for this to happen in a supermarket but not in a specialised fishmongers. Come on guys, have some pride in your work....
