Excellent micro pub serving a good selection of real ales. It's big enough to get a a good number of people in but cosy and intimate. There is an outside seating area at the front. If you want to go to Jean's Thai restaurant next-door, you can get your beer here. No food served here or lager but some bar snacks.
Lovely little pub serving various ales. I’m not a fan of ales but Garvan took time to go through which would most be like a lager and I then enjoyed my pint. We bought some T-shirts and will be back. Clearly enjoyed by locals! My friend Rachel has been encouraging me to do for sometime and we did last night, great to see her there too! Pricing is great and the pub has its own quirky feel about it, and that makes it positively stand out.
Food is great if you like pickle eggs and crisps, they cater for a number of flavours. The beers are all cask local breweries and they pride themselves on the brewery not being more than 30ish miles away. The beers are all so fresh and looked after by professional beers persons. It's a small friendly place and highly recommended.
If traditional warm, flat keg beers is your thing and you want to get kicked out by 10pm you are in dreamland. It feels like a slightly run down front room, it's great if that's your authentic thing. Trendy bar it is not, but nor is it pretentious or complicated.
The owner of the pub, Garvan, and his lovely wife, Sarah, picked me up as I was hitchhiking last week from Bristol to Cornwall. He told me about his micro-pub. Knowing that I would come back to Bristol, I decided to give it a go. I was a little worried because I'm not really a beer lover, I usually drink basic ice-cold lager (sorry I'm French) and I wasn't sure I was able to appreciate traditional ale from the cask. But at least I felt that I had to see the place. Well, the staff are very friendly, I loved the place, the atmosphere... and the beer! Thank you so much Garvan, for the lift and for the beer!
