Would just like to thank Amber for her prompt and great service, excellent pint pouring and bubbly fun personality! The food is great here, the chefs know what they are doing. My personal go to is the Mighty Meat pizza or one of the burgers, they are truly terrific! The pub has all manners of sports to watch, from Premier League and Championship games to F1 and Golf. The Anchor is also equipped with 2 pool tables and a darts which is always fun to play over a pint of cold beer. The beer garden has booths and heaters for those colder evenings, accommodating to everyone's needs! Once again, thank you Amber!
We pre booked a table here to watch the Lionesses in the World Cup final, we asked for a prime location seat and we certainly got one. Beer was good and atmosphere was great, Good value as well, Only downside was the cauliflower wings we had.. gosh they were horrendous and we didn’t really eat them. All the other food was great
The first time I came here was for the Women's England Football World Cup final. The atmosphere was good. I ordered a cordial with 2 orange juices and I remember it being expensive. Today I had a lemonade cordial which cost £4.10, very expensive in my opinion. The pub is based on Gloucester Road so the outside bit is quite noisy.
The table is sticky and seats are not clean. Me and my friends had waited the drinks for 1.5 hours. The staffs kept saying “wait for 5 mins”. I completely lost my patience. We asked for a refund because we have to go. Then, we asked again another half hour later. The staff called the manager to refund.
Visited the Anchor on a Monday evening for food. The manager was very helpful, the barstaff were lovely. I ordered the ranch chicken which arrived promptly, it was delicious and good value for money. I asked the manager to pass on my compliments to the chef, who then came out to thank me. The chef, Jamie, was very professional and lovely. Would definitely go back again and I can highly recommend this pub.
